Often on Sunday afternoons we would go to the Black Prince's house in Old Bexley to walk in the ornamental gardens and to smell the herbs from the herb garden laid out for the blind with braille metal cards on sticks by each plant. The background to the photo has the right Elizabethan feel and was used as a curtain for a cubby hole, a coverlet for trolls and sometimes hid a patch on the nursery sofa.
